AN activation plan to prepare the reconversion of an industrial warehouse
This warehouse located in the heart of Durban's (South Africa) Rivertown neighbourhood was previously used as a storage depot for courier goods. In 2014, we assisted the property developer Propertuity with designing and implementing a full activation plan for the launch of the building, as the first step of its reconversion process.
The activation plan included :
an urban exhibition about the transformation of the neighbourhood and the city, “Durbanism”
a weekly food and fresh produce market called the “Morning Trade”
permanent art installations by local artists Skullboy (lateral facade), Vaughn Sadie (lighting), Kim Goodwin (sculpture), etc.
a temporary art exhibition curated by Angela Shaw (KZNSA gallery)
walking tours in the neighbourhood
a “Green Line” installation on the pavements, connecting the building to key locations in the neighbourhood;
a launch party with concerts, food and drinks
