Urban regeneration in Johannesburg has been driven for the past 20 years by powerful public-private partnerships called City Improvement Districts (CIDs). For the first time in 20 years, a detailed (qualitative and quantitative) assessment of the impact of these entities on the urban transformation of Johannesburg is being undertaken.

In 2015 and 2016, we led a comprehensive research for the CID Forum detailing the social and economic impact of CIDs in Johannesburg.
